Evgeniy Korchevoy: Economic situation in Russia will only get worse

Published: March 18th, 2015

The expert of the Moscow economic forum (MEF), Director of the Russian Association of agricultural machinery manufacturers "Rosagromash" Evgeniy Korchevoy assessed the state of the Russian economy through the prism of agriculture. According to him, he cannot see any positive changes in this sphere today.

"The government is taking some measures to improve the situation, but we do not feel any positive trends currently. If we talk about negative aspects, they are typical not only for farmers but for the whole Russian economy. Firstly, they are extremely high credit costs and inaccessibility of them. Secondly, it is a sharp rise in prices of raw materials for production," – Korchevoy stated.

The MEF expert said that four years ago a road map for the agriculture development was worked out. "We described in details in it on a hundred pages, what and how should be done. Obviously, one simple solution is not enough here. A whole range of different interesting measures that could be implemented was written in the roadmap. For example, we talked about the necessity to introduce coloured fuel, so that agricultural producers would not pay road excises on gasoline, which they poured into tractors and harvesters. However, none of the proposed measures have not been implemented yet," – Korchevoy noted.

Director of the Russian Association of agricultural machinery manufacturers "Rosagromash" expressed a hope that the MEF will change this situation. "The world is changing rapidly nowadays, so the necessity to meet with experts from different industry branches is quite large. It is necessary to discuss the current situation, and to develop collective suggestions for improvement of the economic situation in Russia", - the expert underlined.

According to Evgeniy Koschevoy, the MEF directly or indirectly will affect the current state of affairs. "It is easier just to do nothing, to go with the flow. But there are strong people, those who are engaged in the development of new territories. They always strive to move forward, solving problems instead of hiding from them," – he stressed.

Evgeniy Korchevoy is convinced that the Russian government will be forced to listen to the words of the MEF experts. "I am confident that the economic situation will continue to worsen. The government will have to take measures", - he concluded.

Let us remind, the Moscow economic forum will be held from 25 to 26 March in Moscow, in the Moscow State University named after M. V. Lomonosov. Its key theme will be: "A new course. Time presses!"
