Published: March 30th, 2017

Prospects for the creation of the Greater Eurasian partnership on the basis of the Eurasian Economic Union and the SCO member countries were discussed at the round table of the MEF "The Great Eurasian Partnership: Challenges, Issues, Prospects". Academician of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, President of the Institute of Economic Strategies of the Russian Academy of Sciences Alexander Ageev and Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Natural Sciences, Scientific Secretary of the International Institute Pitirim Sorokin-Nikolai Kondratiev Alexander Savoisky moderated the meeting.

President of the International Institute Pitirim Sorokin - Nikolai Kondratyev Yuri Yakovets stressed the historic importance of this initiative. It is the largest outlet of the Eurasian civilization to the world arena in a quarter of a century. According to the expert of the International Economic Forum, this is the basis for the transition to a multipolar world order based on a mutually beneficial partnership of civilizations. Yakovets also outlined the obstacles that stand in the way, including the negative position of the US.

"The United States of America are against this course, which was uttered by the lips of the leaders of their reactionary forces about their striving for a global monopoly, for the restoration of a monopolar world order, stands quite clearly," - the scientist is confused, - "Although their economic strength is large, but in human terms it is only five percent of the world's population. And so it is not clear why five percent of the world's population should determine the fate of the remaining 95%.".

The conjugation of the Eurasian Economic Union and the "Economic belt of the Silk Road" opens up enormous opportunities for the future dynamic development of economies on the Eurasian continent, says Askar Akayev, a foreign member of the Russian Academy of Sciences,.

"The volume of China's trade with countries on the proposed Silk Road is about 1 trillion 250 billion dollars. And in 2030 this figure will double. Therefore, I urge that we intensify our activities so that the countries of the Eurasian Union also participate dynamically in this epoch-making project, which can become a powerful locomotive for economic development and raising the standard of living of our peoples," said Akayev.

The head of the All-China Association for the Study of Russia, Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Li Yunquan expressed the opinion that Russia and China are ready to build a comprehensive Eurasian partnership. This is indicated by the adjusted strategy of Russia, where China is not a threat, but a partner. Numerous contacts are carried out at the level of heads of state, which emphasizes the importance of joint integration.

Chen Zhigang, chairman of the Chinese Society of St. Petersburg, said that the Chinese business center in St. Petersburg has become the main venue for the meeting of Chinese delegations for two years of existence. In 2016, he received about 150 Chinese delegations in the field of culture, art, science and business. This indicates a high level of cooperation between the countries, Chen Zhigang stressed. According to the speaker of the MEF, the Eurasian space and the strategy "One belt is one way" is a historical second chance for two great nations, not only in the economic but also in other spheres.

The big Eurasian Partnership has no alternative - the adviser to the President of the Russian Federation Sergey Glazyev are sured. The EEA and the "Economic belt of the Silk Road" complement each other, as the EEA has a common market, and China has investments. Partnership in the Asian region can compensate for lost Western investment.
"Over the past three years, we have lost $200 billion of Western loans, which had to be returned because of economic sanctions. The central bank withdrew 7 trillion rubles through refinancing mechanisms, which began to work for the suction of money. Plus, somewhere 2 trillion losses due to the withdrawal of licenses of commercial banks. In general, the Russian monetary system suffered damage of about 20-odd trillion rubles, "- said Glazyev.

The ruling elite of the USA conducts a hybrid war with the whole world in order to maintain its hegemony, the presidential adviser believes. The manifestation of this war is the catastrophe in the Middle East, and the catastrophe in Ukraine. The new world economic structure, which is formed in South-East Asia, on the contrary, presupposes strict observance of the norms of international law, cooperation and cooperation.

"We call this global economic system integral: there is no desire to drive all under one comb. Each country retains its uniqueness, its own identity. Respect for national sovereignty and the calculation is made for mutual benefit. Proceeding from this approach, it can be stated that the best way to ensure our bright future, to avoid the transition of the hybrid war to increasingly acute and tragic phases, is to build the Great Eurasian Partnership," Sergei Glazyev concluded.

Participants in the discussion noted that in the current situation, the best option for Russia is to move to the East. The conjugation of the project "Economic belt of the Silk Road" and the program of the Eurasian Economic Community will give an opportunity to develop precisely in this direction.
